Privacy Policy

Spend Clock ("we," "our," "the app") is an expense and time tracking application. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.

Information we collect

Account information: name, email address, and profile photo when you sign in.
Financial data you enter: transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, and receipt images you choose to scan or upload.
Time-tracking data you enter: projects, clients, tasks, tags, and logged time entries.
Device permissions data: only when granted by you — see Permissions below.
Usage analytics: anonymized app usage patterns to improve performance and stability.

Permissions we request, and why

Camera — to scan receipts for automatic expense entry (OCR). Only accessed when you tap "Scan Receipt."

Photos/Storage — to attach a receipt image from your gallery, and to export/back up your data locally.

Notifications — for bill due-date reminders, running-timer alerts, and Pomodoro session alerts. You can disable these anytime in Settings.

Biometric (fingerprint/face) — only if you enable app-lock; used solely to unlock the app on your device and never leaves your device.

We request each permission only at the moment it's needed, not all at once during onboarding.

How we use your data

To provide the core functionality of the app — tracking, calculating, and displaying your financial and time data.
To sync your data across your devices if you enable Cloud Backup (Pro feature), or to create encrypted database backups directly in your personal Google Drive account via the Google Drive API.
To process payments for Spend Clock Pro via Google Play Billing.
To show relevant ads via Google AdMob on the Free tier (see Advertising below).

Advertising

The Free tier of Spend Clock displays ads served through Google AdMob. AdMob may use device identifiers to serve relevant ads. See Google's Privacy Policy. Spend Clock Pro subscribers do not see ads.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers necessary to operate the app: Google Firebase (authentication and database), Google Drive (user-initiated encrypted backups), Google Play Billing (payments), and Google AdMob (advertising on the Free tier).

Data retention & deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app, or by emailing us below. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Children's privacy

Spend Clock is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be notified in-app.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using Spend Clock, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

2. The service

Spend Clock provides expense tracking, time tracking, and related reporting/invoicing tools. A Free tier and a paid "Spend Clock Pro" subscription tier are available, as described in-app and on our Pricing section.

3. Subscriptions & billing

Spend Clock Pro is billed monthly or annually through Google Play Billing.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date, via Google Play's subscription management.
Refunds are handled per Google Play's standard refund policy; we do not process refunds directly.
Prices are shown in INR and may be adjusted with advance notice.

4. Your data and content

You retain ownership of the financial and time-tracking data you enter into the app. We do not claim ownership over your transactions, receipts, projects, or invoices.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Spend Clock for unlawful purposes, to attempt to reverse-engineer or disrupt the app, or to misuse the invoicing feature to generate fraudulent documents.

6. Disclaimer

Spend Clock is a personal finance and productivity tool, not a substitute for professional accounting, tax, or legal advice. Calculations (tax, GST, profitability) are provided for convenience and should be verified independently for filing purposes.

7. Limitation of liability

Spend Clock is provided "as is." We are not liable for financial decisions made based on data or reports generated by the app, or for data loss not covered by your own backups.

8. Termination

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

Frequently asked questions

How do I delete my account and data?

Open the app → Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, transactions, time entries, and any backups within 30 days. You can also request deletion by emailing privacy@spendclock.app from your registered email address if you no longer have access to the app.

How do I cancel Spend Clock Pro?

Subscriptions are managed through Google Play, not inside the app directly. Open the Play Store app → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Spend Clock Pro → Cancel.

Is my data backed up automatically?

Automatic cloud backup is a Spend Clock Pro feature. Free-tier users can create manual encrypted local backups from Settings → Backup & Data Sovereignty.

Why does the app need camera access?

Only to scan receipts for automatic expense entry. Camera access is requested the first time you tap "Scan Receipt," not during onboarding.

I found a bug — where do I report it?

Email us at the address below with your device model, Android version, and steps to reproduce the issue. Screenshots help a lot.
